Yuan Ru Yin of China won the overall title at the ANNIKA Invitational at Mission Hills in dramatic fashion by finishing the tournament with a 4-under-par 212 total, good enough for a one stroke victory.
The ANNIKA Invitational at Mission Hills is a 54-hole stroke play competition played on the par-72 Annika Course at Mission Hills Golf Club in China and is being contested by 58 players from six different countries. It is the first girls-only junior golf tournament held in China and was the first ANNIKA Invitational event held outside of the United States.
Yin came into the final round with a share of the lead, but built a two-shot lead after consecutive birdies on Nos. 12 and 13. Bogeys on Nos. 16 and 17 dropped her back into a tie for the lead with Chinese Taipei’s Ching Tzu Chen heading into No. 18. With Chen missing the green on her approach shot, Yin knocked it to 15 feet. With the tournament on the line, Yin rolled in the tournament-winning birdie and gave an emphatic fist pump to celebrate the victory.
Chen finished second overall at 3-under-par 213. Finishing in third at 2-under-par 214 was Inez Beatrice Wanamarta of Indonesia. For finishing in the top three overall, Yin, Chen and Wanamarta receive exemptions to the 2015 ANNIKA Invitational USA to be played at Reunion Resort in Orlando, Florida on February 13-16, 2015.
As the overall champion, Yin earns an exemption into the LET’s 2015 Mission Hills World Ladies Championship to be played at Mission Hills.
This concludes another successful ANNIKA Invitational at Mission Hills. We were treated to some fantastic golf and a lot of fun activities all week long. Thank you to Mission Hills Golf Club for all of their support this week.
