Yu Sang Hou of Chinese Taipei holds the overall lead after shooting an even-par 72 in the opening round of the fifth annual ANNIKA Invitational at Mission Hills.
The ANNIKA Invitational at Mission Hills is a 54-hole stroke play competition played on the par-72 Annika Course at Mission Hills Golf Club in China and is being contested by 42 players from four different countries. Created in 2011, it is the first girls-only junior golf tournament held in China and was the first ANNIKA Invitational event held outside of the United States.
Hou leads by one shot in the overall competition and in the Under 18 division by carding four birdies against 4 bogeys in her round. In a second-place tie are An Ni Guo and Yan Liu, both of China, after shooting a one-over-par 73. China’s Rui Xin ”Rachel” Liu (an ANNIKA Academy ELITE athlete), Zi Yi Wang and Ru Qing Guan sit in a tie for fourth with a 2-over-par 74.
Hsin Yu Lu of Chinese Taipei currently holds a two-shot lead in the Under 15 division after a 5-over-par round of 77.
The winner of this year’s event will receive an exemption into the LET’s 2016 Mission Hills World Ladies Championship to be played at Mission Hills and 2015 Xiamen Open International. The champion will also receive an exemption into the LAGT’s 2016 Hong Kong Ladies Open. The top three overall finishers will receive exemptions to the 2016 ANNIKA Invitational USA to be played at Reunion Resort in Orlando, Florida on February 12-15, 2016.
Second-round tee times will begin at 7:20 a.m. on Thursday off the No. 1 tee on the Annika Course at Mission Hills Golf Club and will be followed by the Annika Clinic at 2 p.m. and the Tournament Dinner at 6 p.m.
