This week Mike and I are in Pebble Beach, CA for the 2012 Callaway Invitational. The entire Monterey area is so romantic and has such stunning views. It’s truly one of our favorite places. The variety of restaurants and shopping choices in the quaint little downtown of Carmel is so special! And it’s always fun for us to gather and catch up with friends at the fire pits at the resort with a glass of red wine, while listening to the traditional bag-pipes at sunset.
This tournament is an off season favorite for many of the golf professionals, and is held at Pebble Beach Resort – one of the best in the country! This tournament is one of my favorites because it is hosted by my long-time partner, Callaway Golf. I have been with them since the beginning of my career, and it has been the only equipment I have ever used since turning pro. Callaway really helped me to reach my goals and I always felt that I had the superior equipment to play my best. I have seen the evolution of their clubs since the birth of “Big Bertha” in the early ’90s. This week they have their tour trailer by the range, and they support and service the players’ equipment as needed. I was in there Tuesday and had my grips changed along with a few other little tweaks.
The event uses three courses at Pebble Beach – Spyglass, Del Monte and Pebble Beach. Spyglass is the toughest of them all. It’s more narrow and trickier in design than the others, but still fair with stunning views. Del Monte is more inland and will be the shortest course we play. Pebble Beach is a world famous course with amazing views of the pacific ocean. History and memorable events have taken place on this course, making it my favorite of the three. Weather always plays a big role here. This Tuesday was absolutely gorgeous- low 70′s sunny and no wind. Hopefully that will last through the weekend.
Looking forward to a great tournament! Be sure to follow me on Twitter @ANNIKA59 for the most up to date news and pictures from Pebble Beach!
